Hyperhidrosis (Part 1)

Have you ever experienced excessive sweating. If yes, then you might know how embarrassing it is especially when you are at work or at public places?

Shaking other people's hand with damp palms, holding a hanky all the time, not being able to wear heels are some of the practical difficulties you might experience.

Yeah! Hyperhidrosis is all about excessive sweating.

To be frank, the cause is not known in more than 90% of cases (which we call as “Primary Hyperhidrosis” )

Hyperhidrosis is more common over the palms, soles, armpits and face.

Okay! Now you may ask me that the deodorant should solve the problem, isn't it?

 Hmmm!   No!!!

Not going deep into the action of deodorants and antiperspirants, let me clarify that

“DEODORANT  will just reduce the unpleasant smell, not the sweat whereas ANTIPERSPIRANTS reduce sweat production”

To those who have tried commercial antiperspirants, the problem may still persist in some cases.

Well don’t sue the brand, it’s not their fault😂

Let me say why it’s not working out for you
  1. First, the concentration of medicine used in commercially available antiperspirants is lower than the concentration prescribed by your dermatologist.
  2. Second, it works out only in armpits and doesn’t expect a positive response in other areas
  3. Third, even in armpits, 6% of people won’t have a positive response

Okay, do you need to worry about it?

No! Not at all

Consult a dermatologist and get it treated. Thank me later

Well! Antiperspirants are just one of the 7 treatment options!

Treatment ranges from simple “avoidance of triggers” to surgeries!

Surprised!

Let me brief you about the treatment in another post.
