Topical Antiperspirants

For your information,
The active ingredient in commercial antiperspirants which reduces sweat production is Aluminium Zirconium Trichlorohydrex.

The topicals which your Dermatologist prescribes contains a similar Aluminium compound which has to be taken only with a dermatologist’s prescription.

Let me brief you it’s method of application for a better result.
Apply to dry skin at night (this is the time you get very minimal sweat)
The medicine should stay in your skin for at least 6-8 hours before washing
Repeat it daily or alternate days till the sweat production decreases

Probably, you should see better results within 15 days.

Should you stop the medicine once the result is achieved?

Never!

It has to be continued. However, the frequency and concentration can be reduced which would be decided by your dermatologist.

Does it have any side effects?

Yes!

1 in 5 individuals would experience irritation, which shouldn’t make you worry much!

Still, there are many medicines which can be taken topically. It’s discussion wouldn’t be fair in this public forum.

Oral drugs:

This mode of treatment is mainly for those who have excessive sweating throughout their body.

This is not the best method of treatment in most cases.

It should be taken only under the dermatologist’s guidance.

There are still 4 more treatment methods which would be briefed in future post.
